100 days of tarot |||
inspired by #the100dayproject. for 100 days in a row, a tarot card was pulled from the rider-waite-smith deck to learn the symbols, the stories, the meanings behind each card - and to practice abstract interpretations in different mediums on paper.
days 1 - 20: water-based oil
days 21 - 40: acrylic
days 41 - 60: gouache
days 61 - 80: pen and gouache
days 81 - 100: charcoal and ink
90 studies will be available for purchase, with 10 - one from each decade of days - to be given away to a mailing list subscriber that has opted in to the giveaway.
the rider–waite–smith tarot deck is one of the most widely used tarot decks, first published in 1909 and illustrated by pamela colman smith under the guidance of arthur edward waite. it’s known for its symbolic imagery and detailed scenes on each card to guide interpretation.
tarot cards are read by drawing cards and interpreting their imagery, symbolism, and position within a spread to explore questions or reflect on situations. combining traditional card meanings with intuition, personal insight, and the context of the seeker’s question creates a meaningful interpretation.
intuitive abstract painting focuses on expression, emotion, and process rather than realistic representation. looking at the tarot card and responding with color, movement, and feeling in the moment allows the work to evolve organically.
a daily art practice strengthens creative decision-making and helps build trust in artistic instincts over perfectionism. consistent practice deepens technical skill while revealing an artist’s personal themes and artistic voice.
